Their vibrant chartreuse coloring, delicate freckling (called lenticels in botany!) and expressive single eyes are sure to bring a certain charm to your holiday tree or even your regular year-round decoration. These pears are a design that I developed based on ancient symbolism and roman/pre-roman votives. The pear is a symbol of prosperity and longevity (and commonly associated with females), and the eye is a symbol of protection and watchfulness. I like to think that these odd little fellows might watch over your home, bringing good luck and safety wherever they are. Please note that this is a preorder! Each one is wheel-thrown in a brown stoneware, and then carved, sculpted, handled, underglazed, fired, glazed and re-fired to create an individual character mug for your favorite beverage. You may select to have your mug created smiling or worried expressions, or you can select "Emily's choice" which gives me a little extra freedom to choose your mug's expression.
